( YA Involvement in Youth Camp! )

Dear all,

The YAM has been approached by Faith Factor to help out in their year-end Youth Camp. The latter is evangelistic in nature and it is hoped that the youths will take this opportunity to bring their non-Christian friends along. Details are still sketchy at the moment but here's what you guys need to know so far:

Date: 10 to 13 December (Wednesday to Saturday)
Where: Presbyterian High School (Yio Chu Kang)

Activities that require our help!: P.S. Do take note of the dates!

1) CSI Night on the night of the 10th of December (it hasn't been properly themed yet) - I/Cs: Cheryl and Zuhao

They might need help in the contribution of game ideas and the execution of the event itself e.g. station ICs, actors and actresses. If interested to help out, do approach these two people!

2) Beach Games @ Sentosa on the afternoon of the 11th of December - I/Cs: Maria and Daryl (myself)

Some beach games include: Ultimate frisbee, Beach Obstacle Course, Sandcastle building cum War Games.

We will be needing 6 Station I/Cs, and two safety personnel (they can double up for dual roles if necessary) If interested, do approach Maria or myself!

3) Logistics (ongoing before, during and after the camp)- I/Cs: Jonathan Ma. So far, he's the only poor guys handling such an important and heavy portfolio, so do volunteer to help him out. I'll be "seconded" to help him out, as indicated to Dawn. So yeah, do look for him too! I guess he'll be needing help with the coordination of items needed for games, food catering, and general logistical issues.

We will be submitting our final proposals for these two events by the 19th of September, so do let us know way before that.

The Youth Chairperson - Mr. Lim Yaoqi and his camp committee will be making an official camp publicity announcement this coming Sunday (7 September 2008), so do stay tuned for more details about the camp!

Helping out in the Youth Camp will certainly help us young adults get to know our youths much better, through planning and executing events for them, and interacting with them when playing the games. Hence I really hope that more YAs can sign up to be involved in at least one of the activities.

( YA Programme for Sunday, 31 August 23008 )

Hi everyone!

While there's no official YA programme this Sunday, we're opening up the option for all young adults and leaders to have lunch together at the coffeeshop, and to stay back in church after that for a time of informal fellowship through board games, studying (gasps!), and/or even just talking and discussing about any issues facing the YA. This is purely optional, although we'd encourage you to join us at least for lunch instead (for all you busy YAs out there).

I apologise on behalf of the servants' team for this last minute notice! I know it's been explicitly stated in most of the survey results that our YAs earnestly desire more time to get to know one another better and to have more meaningful fellowship (outside of CBSI time. Not that Biblestudy is wrong, it's just that we've been neglecting the other aspects of ministry) That being said, do stay tuned for future, formal fellowship events that will help our YAs to bond and interact with one another.

P.S We would greatly appreciate it if any of you have good suggestions of events and activities that we could do as a ministry, with the objective of getting to know one another better so that we can show genuine care and concern for one another.

( Last Flight Out )

Marvin's leaving for Finland for exchange tomorrow evening. It'd be nice if some of us can make it to send him off, especially since he'll only be back in December! That's many months away!

( Suggestions Anyone? )

Hi all!

Just another friendly reminder that there won't be a Young Adults CBSI session this Sunday, due to the fact that it's Teachers' Appreciation Sunday/Sunday School Practium week, and all our poor Discussion Leaders need a well-deserved break.

However, Maria has suggested that we have our own, informal kind of activity e.g. movie screening in the auditorium and/or lunch before that in church, or somewhere else. It's kind of last minute, so we'd really appreciate any suggestions of any kind from anyone! Or if you feel that we young adults deserve a break too, we can have our own lunches on Sunday after service then go our own ways. Also can.

Yup, so I'll wait a while more, for feedback from everyone, but deciding on what's the plan for this Sunday. In the meantime, continue to faithfully do your CBSI homework!

I was flipping through my bible today and I came across to this little note I wrote. Probably took down some notes when listening to some preacher and I thought it would be good to share it with you guys.

It says " Forgiveness is giving another chance".

Do you have the experience of saying, "I can forgive that person and won't bear any grudges against him/her, but I cannot forget what he/she had done to me" ?

( Recruitment )

Hello again!

Just doing a bit of advertising for two different groups of people!

One - the church choir is still looking for heavenly male voices to renew their ranks. Anyone who's not tone deaf and can hold a simple tune will do! They've got plenty of females, but they're still opened for ladies of all ages to sign up. Well, so if you've got the gift of praising God through song, why not give it a shot? =) I'm not sure whether their booth's still opened after service on Sundays though. Can always check with the church office. =)

Two - The Promise Musical still requires calefare (is that how you spell it? MS Word dictionary doesn't have it) performers! Whoops, I mean, "extras" for the musical. If you have the built and looks of a Roman soldier and can't really sing, you're fit for the role! This news is as of three weeks ago, when Uncle Tony Quek reminded me again that they really need these roles to be filled soon. Well so yeah, if interested, do look for him!

Okay. That's it from me from today, but before I go...

With regards to the K-Box outing, I think it's not a majority who wants to go, as indicated by the survey compiled, but a small vocal minority. It'll still be fun to organise such an outing, but let's also open up more suggestions as to other events we can plan too. Yeah, alternatives for people who're shy and who really really can't sing. I guess you know who I'm talking about. Haha.

Okay, now I'm off to my readings again. Seeya!

( Solve a crime! )

"My name is Tom Randall," says the voice on the phone. "I'm a friend of Philip McLean's. There's been a horrible accident at his studio!"

Fifteen minutes later, you're looking at the body on the floor in front of an easel, next to a huge puddle of bright red paint. Over McLean's right temple is a gruesome, bloody wound.

You note the victim's immaculate clothing: powder blue sport coat, elegant maroon tie, snow-white shirt, light gray slacks, and tan shoes- even the soles are spotless. An unfinished colour illustration rests on the easel.

Tom Randall begins,"I hadn't seen Phil for several months, since just before he got married. Ill tell you about this now, since you're sure to find out about it. The girl he married used to be engaged to me. There was some bad feelings between Phil and me, but it all got smoothed over."

"Suppose you tell me how this happened," you say.

"I had a sudden impulse this afternoon to pay Phil a surprise visit, to let him know I didn't bear any grudges. When I came into the studio, he was painting, his back to me. I guess he didn't hear me come in. Then when I spoke, I must have really startled him. He dropped that paint on the floor, and as he turned around quickly, he accidentally stepped into the paint, slipped and hit his head on the corner of the easel! The blow, combined with the fact that he had a weak heart, must've done it. I called you as soon as I got over my shock. I only wonder how Betty will feel when she hears the story!"

"Story is right!" you snap. "I want you to tell me the truth!"

Why are you doubtful of Randall's story?

( Just for laughs. )

Ok.
Now that everyone has started school, the stress virus may start spreading around.
So here's something to help you guys relax.

Ah Lek was asked to make a sentence using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Not only did he do it 1 to 10 he did it again from 10 back to 1. This is what he came up with..... 1 day I go 2 climb a 3 outside a house to peep. But the couple saw me, so I panic and 4 down. The man rushed out and wanted to 5 with me.. I ran until I fell 6 and threw up. So I go into 7 -eleven and grabbed some 8 to throw at him. Then I took a 9 and try to stab at him. 10 God he run away. 10 I put the 9 back and pay for the 8 and left 7 -eleven. Next day I called my boss and told him I was 6 . He said 5 , tomorrow also no need to come back 4 work. He also asked me to go climb a 3 and jump down. I don't understand. I am so nice 2 him but I don't know what he 1 . Thank Q

( An Official Hello! )

Hello all!

Daryl here! Since the rest of the servants team has already posted something or other (except Maria because she's busy touring Germany right now), I should do the same too!

This blog was created for the WHOLE KPC YAM, yes the WHOLE ministry (adults leaders included!). It's just one of the few new initiatives for us to stay connected as a ministry, and for us to post updates, information, photographs, video clips, invitations to events, how certain biblical lessons have helped during the week, words/verses of encouragement, and just about anything else. It will be helpful for those who miss out on YA on Sundays, although this is certainly not an excuse not to turn up in the first place!

So in my inaugural post, I'll help Jeffrey blog about something that he's really been pushing for the past few days. It's the Singapore Fireworks Festival 2008! He's arranging for a group to go down together this Friday, the 22nd of August. For the exact time and place, do contact him. =)

and yes!!!! to all the YAs we've finally gotten ourselves a communication portal! This should come in really useful for everyone, especially if you've missed a week at church(please don't!) or so and you're really hungry/eager(please do!) to know what u missed out on!

besides.... what better place is there for all your invites, agonies, complaints, daily reminders, prayers and blah blah blah than .... tah-dah... a BLOG. we should really aim to really make this our one-stop-must-visit-daily website or better stilll homepage.... but of course not without everyone's support/random postings and all! Hey everyone!

Welcome to the official YA blog! Yay! Joy!

The whole purpose of having a blog is so that we make any announcements, just catch up with one another, share with one another anything interesting going on in our lives, prayer requests, answered prayers, or just to sort of hang out online and make each other laugh.

The Servants' Team intends to make this a happening blog! Meaning, it will be updated every 24 hours! You can post about almost anything you like! Yes, Zuhao, you can consult us about your wardrobe. Yes, Kim, you can post the lyrics of your favourite K-Box songs too.

So, if you see that it's nearly 24 hours and nothing's been posted, just post something! Really. Almost anything's fine!

I've told you the password already, but if you forget, just ask any of the Servants' Team. Haha.

If you've noticed, the email, kpchurchya, is exactly the same as the blog's address! Should be relatively easy to remember! Yay!
